What you will learn:
As early as July of 2008, Ohio courts will begin operating under Rules of Civil Procedure designed to address the complexities of Electronic Discovery. At this morning briefing we will:
- Introduce you to the 2008 Amendments to the Ohio Rules that open the door to e-discovery in state courts;
- Provide perspective on the likely impact of the Ohio Rules based upon emerging trends in the federal courts under similar rules;
- Explain how technology and the law are changing the nature of litigation generally;
- Demystify computer forensics;
- Offer suggestions on how to develop a battle plan for E-Discovery in litigation; and
- Offer suggestions on policies and procedures to implement now, before litigation occurs.
About the speakers:
ALAN ROSS is a partner in the Bricker & Eckler litigation department. His practice emphasizes Intellectual Property and commercial litigation. He is certified as a computer forensic investigator, is a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production, and writes the firm’s E-DiscoTECH blog devoted to e-discovery issues www.eDiscoTECH.com. Katie Giumenti is a member of the Bricker & Eckler LLP employment and labor group. Her practice emphasizes defending employers in litigation and administrative charges involving such issues as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, employment at-will, non-compete agreements, employee benefits, employment contracts, defamation, and wrongful discharge.
GREG KRABACHER is a Bricker & Eckler attorney practicing in the litigation department. His practice emphasizes electronic discovery as well as the acquisition, protection, enforcement, and defense of intellectual property rights, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and internet law matters. Prior to joining Bricker, Greg worked for four years as an information technology consultant for Accenture and earned a degree in Computer Science & Engineering.
